Abstract

Cy Haager was a photographer at East Side Pharmacy (exact location unknown). The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) is an American fraternal order, originally founded as a social club in 1868 in New York City. The Klamath Falls Order of the Elks was founded in the beginning of the 20th century and is located on Main Street. Collection contains an envelope with 12 black and white photographs, depicting the 1930s and 1940s downtown Klamath Falls.

Delisting of the Shortnose Sucker: Correspondence

Fish species Shortnose sucker and Lost River sucker, native to southern Oregon and northern California, are federally listed endangered species. Due to habitat recovery measures, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes to remove both species from the Endangered Species Act. Collection contains documentation on the proposal.

Doctor Daly of Lakeview Scrapbook

Abstract

Dr. Bernard Daly was a physician, a judge and a legislative representative in the town of Lakeview, Oregon. He actively encouraged young people to attend college, establishing a fund in his will for worthy Lakeview students to attend the University of Oregon. Collection contains of a scrapbook made out of one article: "He Sent a County to College" by Jack Zimmerman, Beaverton Free-Lance Writer of the Sunday Oregonian newspaper, September 18, 1955.

Ethnographic Site Studies of Historical and Archaeological Resources, 1986-1995

Abstract

A Salt Caves Dam proposal from Pacific Power and Light (PP&L) Company and the city of Klamath Falls in 1980s caused protests from conservationists as a threat to the scenic Klamath River Canyon. The proposal was never carried through a s a result. Collection contains a binder with records of ethnographic studies and cultural resources surveys of the sites: Klamath River Canyon (September 1989), and Salt Caves Dam Reservoir (July 1986).

Abstract

The Ewauna Box Company was founded by C.B. Cristler and Charles McGowan in 1912 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. One of its new logging camps was the Quartz Mountain camp, which was established after OC&E Railway completed their line from Sprague River to Bly. Collection contains a 1930 group portrait of the Ewauna Box Company employees at the Quartz Mountain.

F. A. Boutelle Letters, 1869-1873

Abstract Frazier Augustus Boutelle was an officer in the U.S. Army, fighting in the Civil War, the Indian Wars and working as a recruiter in World War I. Frazier Boutelle, 2nd Lieutenant, First U.S. Cavalry Regiment, fired the first shot of the Modoc War (1872-1873) during the Lost River Battle in November 1872. Collection consist of a box with 5 folders, containing copies of handwritten letters by Frazier Augustus Boutelle, 2nd Lieutenant, First U.S. Cavalry Regiment, dating back to 1869, 1873-1873...

Fairclo Family Papers

Abstract

Materials about the Fairclo Family were donated by their oldest daughter Marjorie F. Brissenden. Content date range for this collection is: 1850-2009. Jay A. Fairclo was born July 1st, 1895, in Yreka. He moved to Klamath County in the early 1900s, before serving in the Army during WWI. He served in Mt.Laki Community Church and School Board. Grace was born in 1895 and had met Jay when visiting from Kansas to see her aunt.
